UNdertow
The world outside sleeps, yet
a pitter patter of drops drip,
wet, parallel to the parapet
loud enough for ideas to slip
past a mind’s dribbling fingertips
each drip dropped, upsets
oceans of thought,
rippling out to form waves
some frothing, some not
a mass of moving shades
traveling past the proximity
of a brain’s creativity
mutineers, steering
toward Netflix and beer

I am a transfer student (Junior year) and this is my first semester at SSU. I grew up browsing my father's bookcase of old Science Fiction novels.
