Mother's Favorite Makeup Color
The Monday blues stenched
The household walls
With cheap alcohol
It seem as if a storm scotched
The romantic view of a sunset
I stepped foot into My parent's room
Father asleep and mother on her feet
Her eyes completely fixed on the mirror
As she puffed up her sheathy make up
It was the same make up color
She wore every Monday
That purple hazy
Bruise like color
She seemed so fond of
I woke up mid Sunday night
To a storm descending into
The household halls
Bellowing echoes
Of un sobered liquor
It's thundering flare
Shed heartless words
That left a bloody path
Of lead leading to
My parents room
I dragged myself
To their door with
Fear still stuck
beneath my fingertips
As I turned the nob open
My eyes gawked as
my father's hands
Turned into makeup puffs
Each dab stained purple powder
Onto the flesh of my mother
It was at this point when
I learned purple wasn't Mother’s favorite makeup color
