I don't want to be here anymore
This existence shoves its way into
mine like a maggot winding its way through
an upturned palm.
Gorge on the stillness of rot
until wings shimmering like oil in the gulf
fly from soil.
I’ve gotta crawl, soft-bellied,
through the desert and the
hot-mop asphalt-
blistering toe-tops-
into the maw of a quieter land.
