Girls
Girls in velvet dresses,
disillusioned by empty promises,
roamed the streets searching
absentmindedly for some place
to hide their once votive hearts.
They wore their pain
like armor, creating a mosaic
of past heartbreak.
Reined in by disenchantment,
they began their ritual
of withholding their ballads
from the stellar sky,
causing them to internally
rattle like tambourines
shaking on stage.
A kaleidoscope of chaos
surrounded them, but
their ceramic masks
remained.
